Ideal for kayaking and canoeing

best way to explore the lake in silence

skadar lake camp

Kayaking can be true adventure if you choose that way to explore the biggest lake on Balkan peninsula. If you are lucky one, you will get a chance to see the symbol of the Lake - Dalmatian Pelican. One of the few nesting sites in the world of this rare and endangered bird is practically in our neighborhood. But if you do not get a chance to say ‘HI’ to this magnificent bird, we guarantee, you will not be disappointed. Just imagine calm water with lily pads, hundreds of birds and all that far from the crowd.

The lake is a cryptodepression filled by the river Morača and drained into the Adriatic Sea by the 41 km long river Bojana which forms the international border on the lower half of its length. Therefore, you can mix kayaking on the river and the lake.

The climate type is hot-summer Mediterranean with dry summers, so if you visit us in august, expect very, very high temperatures.

piva lake glamping

Piva Lake is ideal for kayaking, canoeing and SUP. On that way, probably, you will meet very few people, so count on zen mode and priceless joy. Paddling over the smooth, turquoise water, surrounded by thick forest. Fun fact is that you will be cruising in silence over the most elevated artificial reservoir in the world - 675 m from the sea level. Water temperature in summer is around 22°C and it is a true paradise for sports activities.

The nearest town Plužine (17km), small place in Montenegrin north-west, hides so many interesting stories. It was completely rebulid after the construction of the Mratinje Dam and HPP in 1975. The result was flooding of the Piva canyon an creation of this beautiful lake.

For those who wish for adrenaline, we can arrange rafting on Tara river in the longest canyon in Montenegro and Europe at 78 kilometers in length and 1,300 meters at its deepest. The canyon is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
